Hanten red & white jacquard check Indigo Farmer Cloth Work Shirt

This is Hanten cloth, which was made into traditional short coats and vest worn by peasants and farm worker in Japan since the Edo period in the 18th century. These fabrics are produced at a small family run factory started in 1946 in southern Japan which is now in it's 3rd generation. This was the first time they have sold their fabric to a western clothing brand and we are proud to introduce it to our special customers!

*Copper/tin metal reproduction painted workwear buttons

*Jacquard cloth which looks like it was embroidered with thick threads exposed in the back of the cloth.

*Do not trim the green chainstitch runoffs!  it will pull out the stitching. Traditional workwear detail.

*Triple needle felled seams thru out even the armholes which is very difficult and rare to find this level of production and detail.

*Washed and dried in local LA and  Ridgewood laundromats so it's preshrunk and ready to wear.

*reinforced elbow patch

*Cut and sewn in California.
